Canvas - Modules

When you click into a Canvas course, you'll be directed to the course's home page. Typically, this page may include items such as a brief overview of the course, instructor information, and links to resources.

Most content within the course will be accessible from the Modules link - this should be your primary method of navigating Canvas, no matter the subject of your course. Think of the Modules page as a roadmap to your course - work your way through each module, completing each item from top to bottom, to ensure that you're staying on track.

In some instances - as a courtesy - your instructor may adjust the home page of your Canvas course during the semester to show the Modules page.

1. In your Canvas course, click Modules in the course navigation menu.
    
    
2. Course content is divided into modules, divided into sections by your instructor. For example, you may see Week 1, Chapter 1, Unit 1, etc.
   Note: you can use the Expand All or Collapse All button in the upper right corner to toggle all modules. You can also click the triangular icon before each module title to toggle individual modules.
   
    
3. Each module will contain the materials and activities for the unit. You may see lecture materials, additional information, discussions, assignments, quizzes, exams, or other relevant items included. 
    
   • An icon to the left of the course content title are associated with the type of course content posted. For example, a rocket icon designates a quiz or exam.
     • Detailed explanations are available on the Instructure KnowledgeBase.
        
4. Click on an item to load the content page. Interact with the item as directed. 
   
   
5. At the bottom of the content page are previous and next buttons. These buttons will guide you to the previous or next sequential items the course's modules, or you can return to the Modules page for your course.
