Canvas Studio has been updated by the publisher. As of July 2023 the software will no longer be automatically installed when Studio is launched on CVTC managed desktops or laptops. If recording from a desktop or laptop computer, the software will need to be updated before Studio will launch.

CVTC managed laptop

If you have a managed laptop the software will need to be installed before launching Studio. The software is installed outside of Canvas through the Company Portal on your computer.

1. If you have Canvas open in your browser, close the browser before continuing.
   
   
2. Access the Company Portal by searching (1) and clicking to open (2a) or (2b).
   
   
   You can also access by clicking the start button (1), All apps (2), and then Company Portal (3).
   
   
   
   
   
3. In the search box, type "canvas screen recorder" (1) and the Enter key or click the Search icon (2).
   
   
   
4. Click to open the software details then click the Install button.
   
   
   
5. The software will download and install. You should receive a notification that the software installed.
   
   
   The software should also show as installed in the Company Portal.
   
   
   
6. Open Canvas, click the Studio icon and click the record icon (1), then Screen Capture or Webcam Capture (2).
   
   
   
7. The web browser will attempt to open the screen recorder software. Click the checkmark (1) and then click the Open button (2).
   
   
   
8. The Canvas Screen Recorder software should now launch successfully.

Personal laptop

If you are using a Personal laptop or desktop, install the Screen Recorder Launcher software that downloads when Studio is launched.

1. Open Canvas, click the Studio icon and click the record icon (1), then Screen Capture or Webcam Capture (2).

3. A download application box will appear. Click the Download button from the lower-right corner of the screen to save the install file to your computer.
   
   
   
4. Double-click the file to launch the installer.
   
5. If the User Account Control box appears, click the Yes button to start the installation.
   
   
   
6. After the installer finishes, click the OK button.
   
    
7. If needed open Canvas and click the Studio icon. Click the record icon (1), then Screen Capture or Webcam Capture (2).
   
   
   
8. The web browser will attempt to open the screen recorder software. Click the checkmark (1) and then click the Open button (2).
   
9. The Canvas Screen Recorder software should now launch successfully.
