Turning Autoplay off in LinkedIn Learning

When you open a LinkedIn Learning video, either in Canvas or directly on their site, it will start playing automatically. If you find this distracting, you can turn off autoplay in your LinkedIn Learning profile. This resource shows you how to make that change.

Audience

Students and employees who use LinkedIn Learning videos within Canvas or directly on the LinkedIn Learning platform.

By default, LinkedIn Learning videos start playing automatically, even when they are embedded in a Canvas course. Autoplay is controlled by each user’s LinkedIn Learning profile, not by Canvas, so you’ll need to update your personal settings to turn it off.

Instructions

  1. Log into LinkedIn Learning.

  2. Go to your LinkedIn Learning Account Settings by selecting Me option at the top right of the LinkedIn Learning interface and then selecting Settings.
    Account Settings menu

  3. In the Consumption preferences section, toggle the Autoplay button to the Off position.
You will see the "Confirmed. Media will not autoplay when content is opened" confirmation message.
    Autoplay toggled Off

  4. You will then need to click or tap the Play button in Canvas or the LinkedIn Learning website for each video.
