Canvas - Studio Encoding or Upload Error

This is an option to try for trouble shooting encoding errors when trying to upload videos to Canvas Studio.

If you see an encoding or upload error after recording in Studio you can try to re-upload the video.

A copy of the video is generally stored on your computer until it is successfully uploaded to Canvas. To access the saved recordings a new recording needs to be completed.

  1. Open Studio and select Record (1) then Screen Capture (2).

  2. Record a new video. The length does not matter, keep it a few seconds. You are just recording this to access the previous recording if it exist.
Click Rec, wait a few seconds.

    Click Pause.
    /
    Click Done.

  3. The Preview dialog box will appear. Click Back to recordings from the top of the screen.

  4. The saved videos are listed with the newest recordings at the top.
If the video with the error is on the list, click the thumbnail to open it in a new Preview window.
If the video is not on the list, it was not saved locally and will have to be recorded again.

  5. Type a title, description, (1) and click the Upload (2) button.
