Microsoft Teams Phone System FAQ

Why is CVTC moving to Microsoft Teams Phone System?
Teams is more feature rich, sustainable, and future proof than our current Cisco solution. You now can have a single pane of glass for most communications.

What is going to change for me?
For most employees the biggest difference will be that Microsoft Teams can now be used to send/receive phone calls using your assigned CVTC number and store voicemails.

Is anyone else doing this?
Most of the WTCS schools are investigating the possibility. CVTC is currently sharing information with a number of peer institutions that are in various stages of the same project.

Are phones going away?
No. Every classroom and commons area will have physical phones. Employees will have the option of declining a phone. If they change their minds at a later date one can always be set back up.

If the solution is mobile how does a 911 call work?
Technology will be deployed to ensure CVTC is compliant with Kari's Law and the Ray Baums Act phases 1 and 2. Microsoft Teams is configured to allow for appropriate location information to be automatically sent.

What if I have other questions?
Email or send a Microsoft Teams message to Nate Runge.
