Canvas - How to Submit an Assignment from Google Drive to the Canvas Student App on an iOS Device
Submit an assignment to the Canvas Student app from Google Docs on an iPad or iPhone.
Audience
Students turning in a Canvas assignment that was completed using Google Docs on their school iPad.
Directions
Use these directions to submit an assignment to the Canvas Student app from Google Docs on an iPad or iPhone. You will need to know the name of your Canvas course and the name of the assignment in order to complete these directions. You also need the Canvas Student app and the Google Docs app installed on your iPad.
- Open the Docs App from your iPad.
- Tap to open the Doc with your assignment to turn in.
- From the upper-right side of the screen, tap the three-dot meatball menu.
- Tap Share & export.
- Tap Send a copy (1). Leave the format as PDF or tap to change to Word (.docx) (3), and tap the OK button (3). The iPad will prepare a file to send.
Note: Ask your instructor which format they prefer; PDF or Word.
- Tap the Student icon.
Note: If the Student icon is not displayed, make sure you have installed the Canvas Student app. Also make sure you started in the Google Docs App and not in the Google Drive App.
- Tap Select course.
- Your list of Canvas courses will be shown. Tap the name of the course that has the assignment due.
- Tap Select assignment.
- A list of assignment for the course selected will be shown. Tap the name of the assignment that is due.
- If needed type comments in the Add comments (1) box. Tap the Submit (2) button to send the assignment to Canvas.
- The assignment will be submitted to Canvas. You can verify the assignment was turned into Canvas.
