Accepting/Changing my Financial Aid

How will I be notified about my financial aid status?

All communication about your financial aid will be sent to your student email. You will receive an email if you need to submit additional documentation as well as once you’ve been awarded. Please note that if you have any questions about your account, you will need to send communication from your student email (not a personal email account) for us to best assist you.

How do I accept my financial aid?

Once you’ve been awarded financial aid, you may accept (all or part of) your offer in SIS. Grants are automatically accepted on your behalf, as they typically don’t need to be repaid. Loans, however, need to be repaid and require you to accept them and complete additional requirements. We recommend only accepting the amount in loans you need to avoid over-borrowing (please note that there is a small loan fee to account for as well). If this is your first time accepting loans at CVTC, you will also need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and loan entrance counseling. More information can be found here.

How can I cancel my financial aid?

To cancel financial aid for an upcoming semester, please email studentcentral@cvtc.edu so we can update our records, and make changes as needed. Our Financial Aid office will process your request and follow up if any additional information is required to cancel your award. Please note that we can only honor this request if you email us from your official CVTC student email address.

How can I change my financial aid?

If you would like to increase/decrease the amount you originally accepted on your SIS account, you can do this one of two ways. You can send an email to studentcentral@cvtc.edu indicating what amount you are wanting to increase/decrease your loan amount. Please note that we can only honor this request if you email us from your official CVTC student email address. You can stop into Student Central in room 113 of the Business Education Center and complete an award change form. You must bring an official photo ID or CVTC student ID card to discuss your account.

How can I reinstate my financial aid?

If for any reason you need to reinstate your financial aid, you can do this one of two ways. You can send an email to studentcentral@cvtc.edu indicating you would like to reinstate your aid, or you can come into Student Central in room 113 of the Business Education Center and complete an award change form. Please note financial aid will not be reinstated and processed onto an account unless you have enrolled in financial aid eligible credits.

What happens to my financial aid when I accept it?

First your account is credited for the amount you owe the college. If the financial aid money does not fully pay your bill, you will receive a new bill for the balance. If your financial aid is more than your bill, you will receive a refund.

What happens to my financial aid if I drop classes or withdraw?

Depending on the time of the semester, you may be required to pay back part of your financial aid. Because this situation differs from student to student, we recommend reaching out to your academic advisor for more details. You can find your advisor and schedule an appointment here.
