Microsoft Authenticator - Re-Add Authenticator App - QR Code

If you recently got a new/different phone (or tablet), follow these directions to re-set up Microsoft Authenticator on your new device.

  1. On your PC or laptop, log into My Account Portal.
    • If you are prompted to authenticate, but don't have access to your old phone, click here for alternative ways to login.

  2. Click Update Info, under Security info.


  3. Click Delete, on any old Microsoft Authenticator methods.


  4. Click + Add sign-in method.


  5. Click Choose a method.
    Click Authenticator App.


  6. Click Add.


  7. Click Next.


  8. Click Next.


  9. On your Phone or tablet, open the Authenticator App.

  10. Tap the QR code icon, in the lower right hand corner.
    • If you do not see the QR icon in the lower right hand corner, you can click the + in the upper right hand corner. Then tap Work or school account > Scan QR Code.


  11. Use your phone to scan the QR code displayed on your PC.



  12. Click Next, on your PC.


  13. When prompted on your phone enter the number displayed on your PC.
    Tap Yes.




  14. Click Next.
