Google - How to Submit a Google Doc to a Canvas Assignment on My Computer

Depending on the settings your instructor has enabled for your assignment submissions, you may or may not see the option explained below. Your instructor will decide which methods you are able to submit assignments.

  1. One method to submit a Google file to Canvas is by converting your Google Doc to a Word Document. When your Microsoft Word file is saved to your computer, use the standard file uploader to select the converted Word file and submit your assignment.

  2. Some assignments will allow you to upload a Website URL. With this option, you can copy the Google file's shareable link and paste it into the Website URL space as your submission. Once the link is pasted into the 'Website URL' space, click 'Submit Assignment'.

  3. You can also directly share your Google file into Canvas by using the Google Integration option.

Note: Please be sure that your CVTC Google account is the active account for your web browser - if it is not, you should try signing out of any other active Google accounts, or try another browser where other Google accounts are not signed in.

At the Canvas file submission area, click the More option to access the drop-down menu, then select Google Integration.

How to find the Google Integration in Canvas assignments

Select your CVTC Google account if prompted, the select the file for upload. The Canvas file submission area will list any files that will be included. Select more files if needed, then submit the assignment when all files have been attached.
