SharePoint - Save Page as a Draft

Audience: Commons content owners tasked with creating their group's SharePoint site.

Past Steps:

SharePoint - New Pages > SharePoint - Edit the Header > SharePoint - Vertical Section Navigation > SharePoint - Create a Section > SharePoint - Add Content to Page > SharePoint - Other Sites and Comments > SharePoint - Site Assets

This Step: Save Page as a Draft

Pages can be saved so only the editor can see the changes.  A page can then be Published so it is visible to all site visitors.  As a page is being created or edited, changes can be saved as a Draft.  Changes to a page since the last save or publish can also be discarded if the change is not desirable.

    1. To save the changes so they are visible to the editor, click the Save as draft (1) button.

After the page has been saved the Your page has been saved (2) message appears.

The changes are now saved and visible only to those with Edit access to the page.  In order for page viewers to see the changes, the page needs to be Published.

Discard changes

    1. If the changes since the last save should not be saved, click the Discard changes (1) button.
    2. Click the OK (2) button to confirm that the changes should be discarded.

Next Step:

SharePoint - Publish Page
